• Project: Kitchen rehab in a single family home in Westborough

  Problem: The existing kitchen was over 20 years old and was badly in need of a complete rehab. The original builder had done a poor job framing the house. As a result, the floor had a 2-inch tilt causing the floors to buckle and cracking the ceramic tiles.
  Solution: A plan of attack was devised by a structural engineer. Workers removed the flooring and subfloor to expose the framing so that they could cut each rafter and laser level the surface. Each floor joist was notched and sistered to keep the structural integrity. A new subfloor was installed so that hardwood flooring could be put in.
  Client quote: We were very excited to have a new kitchen. It was something I wanted to do for 20 years, so I knew exactly what I wanted. Ken was extremely helpful to me, getting my ideas to become a reality, and his crew was very courteous and kept the kitchen clean throughout the renovation. What was once the worst feature of our home is now the main attraction. We have gotten many compliments from guests who have come to see what we have done.

  Problem: A minor trim replacement became a structural issue because the sill and framing had deteriorated beyond simple repair.
  Solution: All repairs were made to the building’s entire envelope, preventing the same damage from occurring in other locations.

  Problem: The apartment’s only bathroom was small and needed refurbishing
  Solution: In order to make the apartment’s sole bathroom usable at the end of each work day, the crew would install shower curtains and make a surround out of them, allowing the owners to use the shower. The toilet was also placed on blocks, so it remained functioning for the residents.
  Client Quote: Mediate Management did an outstanding job remodeling our bathroom. Ken was always available to update us on the progress of the project and to give advice as to how to best utilize the small space that we have. The workers were professional, very skilled and quickly able to adapt to the surprises that waited behind the walls. They even went out of their way to ensure that the work area was clean at the end of every day. They have transformed our old, dingy bathroom into a calming retreat.
